Simkin Center Birth Doula Training- 12 Week Training. Course Dates: Live-Remote via Zoom, Wednesdays evenings from 6:00pm-9:00pm PST. January 4, 2023, to March 29, 2023 Cost: $725 Registration closes December 28, 2022. Course Details: This Simkin Center doula training course is intended for those who desire a deeper dive into the curriculum as they prepare to enter doula work. Our 12-week format fosters a community of peer support with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The course is virtual, with one in-person, hands-on class (will also be offered virtually, date to be determined). This course has approximately 2 hours of course work in-between virtual meetings. This course meets or exceeds certification requirements for hours and content required by many certification organizations. This online birth doula training is not a DONA Approved Training. This training meets the birth doula workshop prerequisite for the Bastyr Midwifery Program. We offer a Course Assistant position to provide technical support for the Zoom virtual classroom in exchange for a discounted tuition. Gain postnatal competence, tools & capacity taught by a DONA International-approved trainer-Tracy McPhillips. This Postpartum Doula training will be hosted as a 5-week format (10 sessions) from January 5 to February 9, 2023, meeting on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:45pm-9:00pm (Pacific Standard Time). (No class January 16). This workshop will be hosted as a live-remote training via ZOOM. This virtual workshop will consist of the same DONA-approved curriculum as the traditional 4-day intensive class but offers a more spread-out schedule for people who want more time to assimilate the material. Completion of this workshop meets the criteria for two requirements towards DONA International Certifications: (1) Postpartum Doula Workshop and (2) Breastfeeding/Chest feeding for Doulas. REGISTER NOW- Registration deadline, December 27, 2022. 4-week format starting January 8-29, 2023 on Sundays from 8am-5:30pm taught by Kim James. This course is perfect for people who want to complete their workshop in a short timeframe. Must be able to complete 4 hours of pre-workshop modules before the course begins and up to 4 hours of pre-work between classes. Completion of this training meets the criteria for three requirements towards DONA International Certifications: (1) Birth Doula Workshop, (2) Introduction to Childbirth for Doulas and (3) Breastfeeding/Chest feeding for Doulas. This training is in-person and participants will be required to provide proof of vaccination and comply with mask requirements. Our trainings have been filling up quickly and registration will close once we have reached max capacity. Registration will close entirely on December 31. We do offer a Course Assistant position to provide support for the classroom, and in exchange the Course Assistant would receive discounted tuition. Full tuition is $725. In-person, five-day core program to begin practice in evidence-based breastfeeding and lactation care for anyone who works with new mothers and their newborns; or as the beginning process for becoming a lactation consultant (IBCLC). You’ll learn to provide accurate, current and consistent information about breastfeeding and lactation and to support new families in feeding their babies from birth through the process of weaning. See below the topics that will be discussed over a period of five days. Participants will be required to provide proof of vaccination and comply with mask requirements. Did you know that you (the general public) can take many of the University's regular academic courses, assuming extra seats are available and you have the required prerequisites?

You can either audit classes or take them for credit. These 11-week classes, usually held on weekdays, are available in the nutrition, culinary arts, exercise science, health psychology and herbal sciences programs.
