NOTE: Admission to the naturopathic medicine program is a separate process and will take place during your year in the post-bacc program. Students who successfully complete the post-bacc ND program (average GPA of 3.3 or above) and successfully complete the interview process will be recommended for admission to the Naturopathic Medicine Admissions Committee. The final authority regarding admissions decisions resides with the Naturopathic Medicine Admissions Committee.

Prerequisites

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a GPA of 2.75 or above and:

General Chemistry with lab (Please note: It is possible to take General Chemistry I & II with lab at Bastyr during the summer prior to starting the post-baccalaureate program. These courses also have a prerequisite of a passing grade in a college-level introduction to chemistry course.)	2 courses (science-major level)
General Biology with lab (Must include cellular biology and genetics.)	1 course (science-major level)
College Algebra	1 course (or placement exam)

Curriculum

Comprised of classes from our integrated human biology program, the post-baccalaureate program prepares students for Bastyr's Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program. As with the naturopathic medicine program itself, the post-baccalaureate program connects concepts from physiology, anatomy, cell biology, biochemistry and genetics in an integrated fashion, rather than teaching each subject individually.

The post-baccalaureate program fulfills the following prerequisites for the naturopathic medicine program, via these integrated human biology courses:

Organic Chemistry I with lab: BC3123 Organic Chemistry for Life Sciences (Lec/Lab); 6 cr.
Organic Chemistry II with lab: BC3144 Integrated Biochemistry and Cell Biology (Lec/Lab); 6 cr.BC3144 fulfills both the organic chemistry II and biology II prerequisite requirements
Biology II with lab: BC3144 Integrated Biochemistry and Cell Biology (Lec/Lab); 6 cr.BC3144 fulfills both the organic chemistry II and biology II prerequisite requirements
Biology III with lab: BC3151 Integrated Human Biology 1 (Lec/Lab); 6 cr.
Physics: BC3108 Physics 1 (Lec/Lab); 5 cr.
Psychology: PS3114 Developmental Psychology (within psychology department); 4 cr.

The post-baccalaureate program allows students to take several additional integrated human biology courses:

BC3148 Research Methods In Human Biology 1 may be used to substitute for BC5142 Fundamentals of Research Design within the naturopathic medicine curriculum.
Elective classes are available to apply toward the naturopathic medicine elective credit requirement.

The post-baccalaureate program will be completed by the end of spring quarter. This allows students admitted to the ND program to begin first-year courses in the summer prior to beginning the ND program. This summer start significantly lightens first year fall quarter course load in the ND program.
