• A 44-hour practicum. Applicable experience will help you transition confidently into the workforce, providing a valuable interface with herbal manufacturers, growers, wildcrafting experts, practitioners and researchers.
• State-of-the-art herb garden & teaching greenhouse. The Bastyr Gardens feature more than 350 species of herbs from Western, Chinese, Ayurvedic and First Nations traditions. The campus gardens and greenhouse gives you the opportunity to grow herbs year-round, harvest herbs for classroom study or to make herbal products, and even to fulfill relevant work-study hours.
• An on-campus botanical medicine lab. Hone your skills in herbal medicine making through hands-on practice in a lab environment. 
• Innovative classes. Classes such as Ethnobotany Northwest Herbs and Herbs and Food, give you plenty of exposure to various methodologies and diverse thinking.
• Study abroad options. A variety of study abroad/away options are available in Costa Rica, Italy and the U.S.

Seattle, Washington Campus

Set in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, Bastyr’s expansive Seattle-area campus provides a serene, natural environment for students to deepen their health education. Our campus is located in the Seattle suburb of Kenmore, Washington, and encompasses 51 acres along the shore of Lake Washington. 

At our Seattle-area campus, you’ll enjoy dynamic classroom environments and unique facilities for research, laboratory and clinical experiences. Our campus location also affords you easy access to the rich cultural experiences of the Seattle metropolitan area and unlimited exposure to the natural wonders of the Puget Sound region.

Bastyr’s rigorous Bachelor of Science in Herbal Sciences program trains professionals who can respond to the growing demand for herbal medicine experts. Reference our curriculum table for the number of credits per course, course hours and lecture hours each week.
