Dear Bastyr Community,
Thank you to those who completed the mask comfort level survey. In less than 12 hours, we received over 450 responses! Based on the feedback gathered and changes we are seeing at the state/local levels, Bastyr will be removing the on-campus mask requirement in classrooms and common areas starting May 9th. The highlighted areas below will still require masks:
- Surgical masks (or N95/KN95) will be required in lab spaces.
- N95/KN95 masks will also be required in clinical settings.
We will continue to provide additional information this coming week.
We recognize that this new masking policy is a significant change and is a transition that may feel abrupt or unsettling to some members of our community, especially those who remain vulnerable to the virus. Individuals may choose to continue wearing masks indoors or outdoors on campus, and we welcome their decision to do so. We need to honor their choices and demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and respect for one another. Thank you all for continuing to respect the mask choice of your colleagues and peers as we continue to move through the pandemic.
